D.K. Richardson

My love of portraiture became evident by the time I was around 14 years of age. After school, and completing homework, my immediate attention was finding the Ladies’ Home Journal Magazine and doing a pastel painting of the little faces of children. I studied Fine Art in college and didn’t really make the decision to focus on portraiture until 2007. No turning back…it is my life’s work and I love it! I also teach others how to create beautiful, life-like portraits. It is truly a wonderful gift and I am so thankful to be able to share it with others.

In 2007, after the death of my Mom, I knew it was time to move into a new phase of my life. We had been so close, and she was my greatest fan. Always encouraging me to keep painting and somehow managing to find the funds for art supplies and lessons when I was a child. I don't think I would have the passion or drive now if it hadn't been for her sacrifices. She instilled in me a love of art, a love for children, and really, a love for all people.

Portraits are my specialty. I especially enjoy painting children. They are so full of life and wonder. My home studio is my favorite place to work. It is where I am most comfortable.
